Soon enough (another 6 weeks or so) the Ruby-throated hummingbirds will return to the Northeast. Ruby-throated hummingbirds are by far the most common species of hummingbird that breeds in the eastern half of North America. Each year I anxiously await the first hummer of the season by tracking them on the annual Hummingbird migration map.
